I’m not saying that these are the best LinkedIn tips you’re going to find on the world’s #1 business social network but you will see immediate growth if you take these tips and apply them TODAY! After all, taking action is the fundamental key to all success.

Let’s get straight down to business! Here are the top 6 LinkedIn tips to grow your LinkedIn Network in 2020:

1) Have A Breath-Taking Profile

Okay. Okay. I KNOW this seems simple enough but there’s a method to my madness! Having an amazing profile can literally be the ONE THING that can make a tremendous difference in your LinkedIn presence. Now here are some tips for creating a solid LinkedIn profile.

  • Have a professional photo. Having an amazing professional will really go that extra mile. Did you know that having a professional headshot will allow your LinkedIn profile to be 11 times more likely to be viewed? I’m not saying to go and have a whole runway photoshoot but a clean picture taken with a phone with a good camera will do the job! Here’s an example of a great profile picture.

  • Have a unique profile banner! The profile banner is simply your LinkedIn background photo. Having a vibrant professional background will add that special touch! Remember LinkedIn prefers users to use a background image with a resolution of 1400 X 425. Here’s an example of a simple banner.

  • Have a creative Headline. Your headline is the first thing that people see when they visit your profile and we all know that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Therefore, you must have a straight to the point, well thought out headline indicating EXACTLY what you do. Here’s an example of a brilliant headline.

  • Have a BANGER summary. Now the summary is where you can list every single one of your good qualities from the time you lent that classmate a pencil in the second grade to getting first class honors at college. The whole goal of having an excellent summary is to sell yourself to potential connections. In order to create an amazing summary simply KEEP IT SIMPLE and professional. Don’t boast too much and add VALUE! Think about why that connection should connect with you. Oh yeah, I almost forgot… AVOID ALL TYPOS. Here’s an example of an excellent summary.

  • Keyword. Keyword. KEYWORD. Place keywords throughout your summary and headline!! Optimize your LinkedIn profile!!! Place the keyword that you want to “rank” for. LinkedIn has been following in the steps of Google. The more times you have a keyword on your profile, the more likely LinkedIn will serve your profile to people who are looking for that specific keyword. So if you’re a real estate agent simply place the keyword “real estate agent” all across your profile and you will slowly begin to show up first for people who are looking for real estate agents. Even if you’re looking for a job just place the skills that you are great at that a job seeker will want to see.

  • Change your LinkedIn profiles URL! Yes, you can do that! How do you do it? Well just Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.Click View profile. Click Edit public profile & URL on the right rail. Under Edit your custom URL in the right rail, click the Edit icon next to your public profile URL. Type the last part of your new custom URL in the text box. Then Click Save.

  • Add 100 sections to your profile. JUST KIDDING! However, adding various sections to your profile will make you look even more prestigious to your connections. You can add sections for posts, languages, awards, causes you care about and even your volunteering duties!

2) Connect with people in your industry/target market

It goes without saying that you need to connect with people in order to grow your LinkedIn reach. However, you should get more targeted in sending out your connection requests. Looking for a job on LinkedIn? Send out connection requests to the Human Resource Managers to the company of your choice!

Looking for more clients for your marketing agency? Send that request to your ideal future client. Simply put just send your requests to people you know that you can add value to or who will become a beneficial connection in the long run. Be sure to connect with people you don’t know yet, the more people you connect with, the more people who are more likely to see your content and articles as well as give you endorsements.

Be sure to personalize your connection invitation messages, having a message that breaks the ice can be the one determining factor on whether or not someone connects with you. Make it fun and unique. Remember, there’s another human on the other end of that message.

Add the people that viewed your profile! These are people who found you in LinkedIn’s search engine. These people have shown some interest in you and are the ones most likely to accept gout requests!

3)Automate your ENTIRE outreach.

Don’t have the time to send out connections to your ideal connection?

Want to reach thousands of connections in just a couple of days by only doing 30 minutes of work?

AUTOMATE! AUTOMATE! AUTOMATE!

Thankfully, there are tools that can help you automate this entire strategy.

The two tools that I have tried have been Linkedin Helper and Alfred, however, Alfred has proven to be more secure and has a proven system for automating your connection requests. I would strongly suggest checking out Alfred if you want the opportunity to send out 150+ connections per day with NO effort!

4)Release posts every week!

Publishing quality posts is one of the best ways to grow your influence and bring more eyeballs to your profile so you can gain more connections.

There is no magical number of the number of times you should post on Linkedin BUT I have found that posting 2-3 times per week with relevant content can bring a significant number of people to your profile!

So bring back those amazing journalism skills from grad school and get to work!!! There is no tool that does the posting for you so yes you are going to have to put in the work.

5) Import Your Email Contacts

Importing your email contacts into Linkedin will literally allow you to send a connection message to every SINGLE one of your email contacts even if they don’t have a LinkedIn account! Isn’t that magical? Or does it seem just simply annoying? Regardless of whether it is annoying or smart, it is more than effective for a quick way to grow your LinkedIn network. Click here for detailed directions on how to import your email contacts.

You even have the opportunity to add as many emails as you possibly can! I am more than positive that across all your email accounts you maybe have hundreds if not thousands of contacts!

Don’t worry! If you don’t want to send that LinkedIn connection to that ex that crushed your heart in high school you can monitor the number of individuals who receive that connection email.

6) Join Relevant LinkedIn Groups

This is one of the best ways to find people who are excited about the same things you are excited about.

Join the group.

Start a discussion

And watch the connection requests swarm your inbox like mosquitos around a cinnamon roll.

There are MILLIONS of groups you can join so just get out there search for them and make sure you add value!!
